The Chiquita Classic Gets a Bow Tie
The Chiquita Classic Bow Tie Contest is underway! Chiquita’s latest Twitter promotion asks Chiquita’s CEO, Fernando Aguirre’s
followers to design the official Chiquita Classic bow tie, which will raise funds for charity and become the emblem for the Chiquita
Classic’s charitable efforts.
You may be asking why bow ties? The Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF), a charity frequently supported by Chiquita, was the
first non-profit to partner with the Bow Tie Cause organization led by former Bengals player Dhani Jones. Pairing the Bow Tie Cause
with the Chiquita Classic will promote even greater awareness of Chiquita’s charitable giving connected with the golf tournament
and provide an additional opportunity to support charities.
Entrants should submit a photo of their designs on Twitter to @FdoAguirreCEO and include the hashtag #ChiquitaBowTie.
The Chiquita Classic Bow Tie entries will be judged on:
1) Color Usage (up to 4 colors)
2) Pattern (must be repetitive)
3) Symbolic Meaning (what does the design represent?)
4) Creativity
5) Total Design
The winner will receive a donation of $1,000 to the Charlotte, NC area charity of their choice and four VIP tickets to the Chiquita Classic Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 30, 2012, which include special access throughout the tournament grounds (does not include transportation, lodging, taxes, fees or other costs associated with the prize).
All eligible bow tie designs must be submitted by April 6. Once the winner is announced, the bow tie will be produced and charities involved
with the Chiquita Classic will have the opportunity to sell the bow tie during the tournament week. The three charities that sell the most
bow ties will split the sale profits.
