A beautifully decorated cake with layers of fresh apple and Chiquita banana, and a soft Chiquita banana flavoured sponge.

A square baking tin measuring 22cm x 22cm

Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF/gas 4 and grease and line the baking tin with parchment paper.

Fill a large bowl with iced water and add the lemon juice. Chop the apples into quarters and remove the cores. Slice each quarter into quarters again so you have 16 slices per apple. Drop each slice into the iced water to stop them from browning. Set aside.

Beat the 225g butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric whisk until light and fluffy - about 4 minutes.

Add the eggs one by one, beating after each addition. Beat in the vanilla. Fold through the self-raising flour and baking powder using a spatula and then add in the mashed Chiquita banana, stirring until combined.

Pour half of the batter into the lined baking tin, then layer half of the Chiquita banana and apples over the batter, alternating with each fruit. Repeat with the remaining batter and fruit, then drizzle with the honey.

Bake on the middle shelf of the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.

TIP: Stir through some fresh blackberries through the batter for an extra fruity burst.
