    • 4 whole Chiquita® bananas
    • 1 cup All-purpose flour    
    • 1 cup Unprocessed wheat bran    
    • 1 1/2 tsp. Baking soda    
    • 1/2 cup Sugar    
    • 1/2 cup Brown sugar    
    • 1 cup Unsalted butter, soft    
    • 2 whole Eggs    
    • 1 tsp. Vanilla extract    
    • 1/2 cup Walnuts    
    • 1 Tbsp. Honey


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a large 9x5 inch loaf pan. Whip 2 Chiquita bananas and sugars until mix is creamy (about 3 minutes). Add butter, eggs and vanilla and whip until smooth. Mix in all dry ingredients until blended then add walnuts and blend for additional minute. Slice two Chiquita banana and toss with honey until Chiquita bananas are well coated. Pour mix in loaf pan and place honey coated bananas on top. Bake in oven for 60 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes then place plate on top of pan and flip pan upside down so loaf falls onto plate. Slice and garnish the loaf with your choice of fresh fruit, powder sugar, yogurt etc.

Hi, For several years, I have been buying your Chiquita Banana Bread Mix at Vons in Southern California. And now, for the past few months, they don't carry it any more. It was quite delicious (best I've ever tried). Can you give me THAT specific recipe or can you tell me where it can be purchased? Many thanks.

From an old Chiquita Banana Cookbook (hope this the one you were looking for!): Banana Quick Bread 1/3 cup shortening 2/3 cup sugar 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 3/4 cups sifted all purpose flour 2 3/4 teaspoons double acting baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup mashed ripe CHIQUITA banana (2 to 3 bananas) Beat shortening until creamy and glossy, or 2 minutes at medium speed on electric mixer. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy after each addition. Add eggs and beat until thick and pale lemon in color. Sift dry ingredients, add alternately with bananas, blend thoroughly after each addition. Grease bottom of a 4 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 3 inch loaf pan. Turn batter into pan. Bake 350F oven for 60 to 70 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean and dry. Let bread partially cool in pan (20 to 30 minutes) before turning onto a rack. Makes one loaf.

I am looking for a banana bread recipe that Chiquita Bananas printed in early 1950s. My Mom used that recipe and only once did I taste bread from someone who told me she made it from that recipe. Every other recipe tastes slightly different. Does Chiquita Banana company still have that recipe or does anyone else have it. I would love to get a copy of it. I have other banana bread recipes but that one is the best one I have ever tasted. Of course it is probably because I grew up with that one. Can anyone help. I was born in mid =-1940s so recipe is probably from 1947 to 1955. Thanks....

why you have 2 lists of sugars there on the ingredients? are you using 2 kinds of sugar? maybe 1 only which is the brown one. anyway thank you so much for the recipes.that will help. thanks again

Hi, Unfortunately bananas vary so much in size. How many cups are we talking about when you say 4 bananas? You really should have a user friendly measure there for the ones that don't bake a lot.
